Saturday Morning

The Beauty of God and the Call of Mission Among Asians Brian Chang and Mary Beth
The purpose of this series of seminars is first to demonstrate the grace and glory of God as revealed in each culture we address (beauty of God). The second is to explain how we can reach that group with the gospel and include them in our campus fellowships (the call of mission). We hope each seminar will affirm, empower and more deeply root those of us who come from this cultural, ethnic or social group in our identity. For the rest, we hope to be in awe of the glory of God revealed in that people group and have a new appreciation, as well as new insights into holding out the gospel invitation to every tribe.

Challenging Pluralism: The Uniqueness of Jesus in a World of Religion Evan and Taylor

Life After Church: Seeing the Campus as a New Context Brian and Steve
Life on campus can be totally different than what we have experienced before. Leaving our old patterns, losing touch with our church can be both disorienting and invigorating. Campus becomes a new context for everything; sin, temptation, fun, and even spiritual growth. In this seminar we will explore the idea of leaving our previous experiences of church and youth group behind in order to find a more satisfying and more powerful kind of relationship with Jesus.

New Community: Creating Places of Belonging Berry and Kelly
Pursuing God in community is life-changing. Growing, serving, loving together shapes our lives and allows us to experience God’s love in relationship to each other. But what do we need to live in Biblical Community? Come be equipped with some basic tools and be encouraged as you embark on the exciting journey of pursuing God together for the sake of the Kingdom.

A Women's Identity Kim and Sara
Where do we as women get our identity? The media and American culture tell us that we are created to be sexy. The “church” tells us that we are created to be quiet and to help. But who did God create us to be? And how do we get our identity first from a loving God when we are bombarded by messages attempting to convince us of our inadequacy and need to change? In this seminar, we will explore the uniqueness which God created in us as women and the continuing journey of embracing our true identity as women of God.

Redeeming Masculinity Dan and Jon
A lot has been said about being a man. On the one hand we are tempted to pride being told that we are superior because we are men and on the other hand we are tempted to feel guilt over the clear and historic misuse of power that is our heritage as men. The end result is confusion about what it means to be in a man in the kingdom and what is good about masculinity. As men we face unique challenges, temptations and struggles that Jesus wants to address and lead us into a new identity. This seminar is for men only, come and hear God’s heart to redeem us as men and use us uniquely for his kingdom.

Biblical Leadership Dan and Todd
"When Jesus wanted to turn the world upside down and bring the message of God's grace to all mankind, He chose unlikely candidates. Of the twelve, most were fishermen and one was a hated publican. Using Jesus as our supreme example, this seminar will take a close look at how God raises up broken, imperfect people and transforms them into shepherds and leaders for a new generation of college students. We will explore our role in partnering with God's initiative to see beleivers developed into powerful, yet humble leaders on campus."

Falling in Love with the Bible Steve and Bill
The Bible is our truest picture of God and His kingdom, and we expect to know him without reading it! Sometimes we try, but it looks more like we grudgingly crack open the Bible in the morning and stare for a few minutes until we get distracted, or we read the same 5 passages over and over again. Come explore scripture with us and learn how to appreciate scripture as more than assigned reading or an instruction manual.

Mike and Kelly will be taking a look at male and female same-sex attraction, and together they will offer suggestions on what kind of community the Church must be to embody Jesus’ love amid the confusion and intensity of such a hotly debated topic.
